Recommendations For Wellness And Fitness - 1184 Words

MEMORANDUM TO: Director of Health and Human Services FROM: Manika Gupta, Hofstra University President of the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) DATE: March 23, 2015 RE: Recommendation for Wellness and Fitness in the Workplace Summary Wellness in the workplace is an important part of all professions where employers need to promote healthier lifestyle. There should be programs to improve the overall health of workers without making employers spend more on insurance for their employees. Factors such as refining employee knowledge on health, helping employees acquire health screenings and follow-up care, immunizations, and the reduction of hazards found in the workplace can all be promoted in the workplace (The U.S. Dept. of Labor, 2012). The wellness and fitness programs should be beneficial to both the employer and the employee. They should be more aware regarding the preventive treatment, also giving them access to fitness centers. There are discussions about the implementation of these wellness and fitness programs. My focus as the President of WELCOA is to recommend the ways for implementation of these programs. Background More than 130 million workers have employment in the United States. These individuals spent a major amount of their time at work.
